1. Some postures of the Sarvangasana Cycle (there are some others I’ll put in another picture).

If you can’t stay 5 minutes in sarvangasana, practice the amount of time you can! And don’t practice it when you have your period.

    Namaste.

  2. Preparing to Salvador Yoga Festival in November!

I’m so excited for this. I contacted Salvador’s Yoga Festival staff and they told me the event is going to happen on 22th, 23th and 24th november 2013!

I’ve already bought my plane tickets (only US$120 for round trip tickets!) because the sooner you buy them, the cheaper, and now I’m saving money to the subscription rates, that are around US$350. Subscriptions have already begun. Excited!!!!

The Festival will happen in this very nice hotel, and the rates include lodging and three meals, classes, lectures and kirtans. I believe it’s going to be very nice. Around 300 people went to the 2012’s edition.

    I’m expecting great days!!

    Namaste.

  3. It’s a fairly old video, but it shows my progress in handstand.

I’ve been progressing every single day, which is amazing. My sirsasana is also getting stronger, and I’m playing around, stepping a little bit away of the wall.

And a very good news: I’m *this* close to hanumasanasa!!! I can’t even believe it. Hanumanasana is one of that poses I’ve been desiring for so long…

In less than 3 months I think I can make it.

    Love, love, love.

    Namaste.

  4. 108 Sun Salutations!!

I know I’ve been missing and not posting a lot lately, but it’s because I’m working like there is no forever.

However, I couldn’t not post this: tonight I’ve done my very fist 108 sun salutations!!

Yep. Even my mat is exhausted.

I was inspired by this post and always wanted to do 108 sun salutations, but I never felt prepared enough.

It was hard, but I took little breaks each 25. After each 25 I’d rest (standing) for a couple minutes. I even think I did one or two more than 108 because I was too dizzy in the process.

After it, there was a “glitter shower”:

If you complete 108 sun salutations, my friend, you deserve a glitter shower. That and the little breaks were tips this lovely lady from the post I linked above told us. You should read it too, it’s so inspiring!

So. Savasana was a whole new experience. After 1 year and 3 months of daily practice, I had my 1st 20 minute savasana ever.

I was just laying there, feeling my heart beating as if it wanted to feed the whole universe with blood, and I couldn’t articulate any complex tought. My body was shaking and for a moment I think I’d die (I’m sort of dramatic).

But I’m pretty much alive. Here’s the picture of myslef I took right after my crazy adventure:

I never noticed how cross-eyed I was until this picture. Oh well. It’s charming.

I won’t say you shoulr try it right now, I’m still waiting for the consequences. But so far so good.

I’ve also timed it. About 45 minutes of non-stop sun salutations A.

    Uff.

    I tought I couldn’t.

    Namaste.

  5. I’ve been meditating a lot about self-love lately.

It all started with a call I listened, where the australian health coaches Melissa Ambrosini and Jessica Ainscough were talking about Self-love. Melissa said “you should love yourself INCONDITIONALLY”. And I tought that was a powerful tought.

I knew that I was supposed to love myself, but to love myself unconditionally seemed to be dishonest, since I am not a perfect being. But Jessica and Melissa made me realize that by loving myself unconditionally now (and not when I’m thinner, or better at my yoga practice, or married, or a mom, or anyhow “better”), I’d be by my side no matter what and that unconditional love I feel for myself will eventually spread and reach others.

Therefore I’ve been working hard on loving myself unconditionally and it feels great.

    So far.

Another concept I’ve been meditating a lot about lately is “Choose Love”. It’s a message from a beautiful Foundation a mother created to honor her 6-years old son. By “Choosing Love” I try to respond to anything that happens in my life with a loveful answer. I’m trying to live from this place of love.

That’s too much love for just one post, isn’t it?

Wishing you all a beautiful night.

    Namaste.

  6. Today the Moon is transiting Swati, which is the domain of Vayu, the wind god. Wind requires surrender. If you push against it, you’ll struggle. If you open your sail, it will carry you. This is why it’s also the domain of Hanuman—the epitome of devotion. Go against your heart and you struggle. Go with it and you surrender. Let it take you.

  7. I’ve just temporarily suspended my account on YogaGlo to save money for a personal project and … no drama intended, but I had tears in my eyes. I hope I’ll be back soon. I love that school!

  8. You are great inside, and so is the world around you.

I like to wake up and start my days with sun salutations and 30 minutes meditation. Everything is quiet, I hear the birds, the light is so sweet, it almost “bathes” me.

I sit there in my mat and just “drink” it. I’m happy only to be there, to be part of this beginning of a new day, to be there with my eyes closed, feeling that enlightned atmosphere.

Here the sun rises at 5a.m. or even earlier, so it is kind of hard to get up at sun rise everyday. But I do my best to be present in these powerful hours of the day.

There are mornings when I need to sleep over, because of so many reasons, and that’s perfectly ok. But next day I try to be there at this time of the day, feeling the greatness of existence, and of nature around me.

Meditating at the beach, specially under a glorious full moon also does the trick for you. The same with forests, waterfalls, and other stunning natural landscapes. Choose one that resonates with your heart and go there, with this “thirsty” spirit, as if you’re longing to be back home. Acknowledge the greatness around you.

    Namaste.

  9. Rushing

Since the accident with my sister, I’ve been in an emotional rollercoaster and just got in this frenzy state of mind of “trying to solve all my problems at once”. I’ve been trying hard to figure out why that happenned, what could I do to avoid this kind of thing to happen, what can I do to protect my sister, my niece, myself.

  10. Have a daily practice.

If you want to feel the benefits of Yoga in your life, I think it’s essencial to go to your mat everyday.

Some days, you’ll have only 5 minutes available. Use it wisely. On your mat.

Something that I understand to be really valuable is to expand your practice beyond your mat, for example, when I became vegan, I did it because I wanted to deepen my ahimsa practice, so everytime I was cooking me some vegan meal, or even searching the internet looking for recipes and nutritional information, I considered it to be “practice”.

And in my opinion, it surely is! So, there are many ways to practice throughout your day, and with time I came to the realization that everything I do and think is my Practice.

Then, the whole life becomes practice. When you feel deeply commited to your practice you can see it in all areas of your life, it gets “second nature”. But, in the beginning, you must be on your mat everyday, until you become addicted, until it “gets” you. So, you’ll crave for your mat, no matter what.

Of course, this is true if Yoga is really your path, because there are so many different and beautiful spiritual paths. Yoga is an amazing one, but I understand it’s not suited for everyone.

    Namaste.
